Council Bluffs is home to a number of local establishments and mom-and-pop shops that have served Iowa's people classic fare for decades. The locals know the best breakfast joints in town, and the classic breakfast has been perfected over the years.

The butter pastry filled with bittersweet chocolate is bigger than a croissant and it is one of the best I have ever eaten. My tour group ate at a restaurant and bakery in the heart of downtown Des Moines, Iowa. We ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and vegetables and finished with the last crumbs. It had the perfect balance of sweet, savoury and salty, with just the right amount of crunch and crispy texture.
The meal consisted of a burger with wagyu beef ($9.99) and a side of garlic fries with garlic sauce. It was awesome, but the fries honestly stole the show from me - they were crispy and tasted so good I didn't count them on the garlic roast.
The fig ham and flatbread combined the perfect sweet, smoky and salty combination with the sweet and spicy coriander vinaigrette (9.99 euros) and the spicy garlic sauce. The prawns were seasoned with cayenne pepper, garlic, basil, oregano, red onion, cumin, salt and pepper. Coriander was refreshing with its spicy flavor and a hint of freshness of garlic and coriander in the vincirette.
After running a successful restaurant on the Omaha side, Nicola decided to open a bakery to showcase her delicious treats. Throughout its history, the business has changed hands and remained in the family, and one owner even became mayor of Council Bluffs. Nicola treats her treats by developing a recipe she has read about Martha Stewart, who says a restaurant must serve something lemony.

The menu has grown since it opened in 1965 and the selection is a must - try it for anyone interested in ice cream, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads and more.
It's difficult to navigate through all the options when many of them are so inconspicuous on the curb, so it's safest to try a taste of it all and not miss out on corn bread, baked beans and breast puree. You'll have some of the best classic steaks in town, including the boxer steak and fried chicken, as well as a variety of salads and sandwiches. As they smoke locally, it is difficult to choose the favourite meat, but I chose my favourite meat, the "boxer."
I never thought I'd add sauteed spinach to a chicken sandwich, but I bet they will in the future. On a recent FAM tour, I was served food at this incredible restaurant that the locals love, and the hash tans alone are worth the trip. If you're passing by on a Wednesday, the Polynesian pork sandwich with Asian saber is a must - try it. There's nothing wrong with the menu, which includes pork ribs, pork belly, chicken, beef, lamb, turkey and chicken breast, as well as a variety of salads.
