Iowa Department of Health officials are watching the debate over the farm bill closely to see if SNAP-Ed will be cut. The Agriculture Committee in Congress is debating whether to make SNAP a better snack for those under 18 who qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Some of these sites are free pantries, but are also run by local food banks and other nonprofits. Free food boxes are provided by the City of Des Moines, Iowa Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the State of Illinois. What is on offer includes food, clothing, water, hygiene items, food stamps, health care, medical care and more.
